Seconds count – Writing challenge

It’s an old saying but that doesn’t make it any less than true.

This writing challenge is centred around a few seconds in time that matter more than any other second, minute, hour, day, week, month or year that have gone before.

We’re looking for stories of up to 1,500 word in length that match any of our Imprints and which are exciting, heart warming, heart breaking, action filled and fun to read.

We want talent that has never written before to submit stories that have been clamouring to be let out. We want talent that is prepared to join us at the very start of our business. We want talent that’s looking to break into the writing market and see their stories published.

Naturally we understand that many of you will be wondering why you should write anything. The reason is this; the editors and other independent people will be reading these stories. Those that they deem to be of a sufficiently high standard will be published in our subscribers-only newsletter, they will also be added to a pre-submissions window notification group for every submissions window we have. We’re not guaranteeing publication, but you will have opportunities weeks before anyone else.

All submissions should follow the Alternative Realities Author’s Guidelines and should be emailed to submissionsATalternative-realities.co.uk

  1. Sounds interesting I can’t seem to link up to your guidelines?

    • Hope you like it. We’re just starting out although we’ve both edited for other presses in our time and have also been through the process as published authors as well. W’re hoping to build something that lasts but that’s for later. Right now we’re at the start of the adventure.

      • Cool my adventure is also just starting. I am having a hard time downloaded the guidelines for submission on this. Any clues as to why? Happy writing and exploring your imagination! This new thing seems like fun!

      • Are you getting any error messages? What system are you using, PC or Mac? Have you checked your downloads folders?

      • Not sure. We’ll try to figure out another way of showing them. However they basically reiterate this: http://www.shunn.net/format/story.html
This is accepted by almost everyone as the proper way to do it and that goes for us too.
